In terms of wine, Croatia is exceptionally rich and has a long tradition. Wine making is more than 2 thousand years old since it was mostly priests who used to make wine and Christianity has been around here since antiquity. Croatia has given a great gift to the world – its wine makers who transferred their knowledge to America, Australia, New Zealand, Chile and some other important wine regions. Wine is without doubt one of the noblest and healthiest alcoholic beverages. Our wine growers produce high quality wines, prepared weather as light to medium strong, dry or medium sweet, characterized by its floral or fruity aromas, which perfectly fit the cuisine of northwest Croatia.
Production and type of wines
Zagorje winemakers produce high quality wines as Traminer, Sauvignon, Rhine Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sylvaner green, Muscat yellow, Muscat white and quality wines Welschriesling and Furmint. The average wines: Müller-Thurgau, Portugieser, Gelber, Chasselas blanc, Chasselas rouge, Gouoais blanc. The high-quality red wines produced in Zagorje: Pinot noir and Cabernet Sauvignon, and quality red wines Blaufränkisch, Portugais rouge and Zweigelt. Widely known predicate wines and ice wines are also produced.

Experience the incredible beauty of Zagorje (behind the hills) Area and taste the best wines in ‘Zagorje Wine Tour’ through Zagorje West. First we provide interesting short visit to the city of Krapina. Then we direct to Zagorje wine roads and wineries. Next, we go to the well known ‘Bodren Winery’ and taste award winning wines. After, we head to the ‘Pregradski Vineyards’ and to ‘Zdolc Vineyard’ where we continue to taste excellent wines. Finally, we move towards ‘Vuglec Wine Cellar’ where, beside the cellar and wine tasting, we organize the dinner with a wonderful view on Zagorje hills. The Vuglec Breg Tourism village is nestled among beautiful green hills. It offers accommodation in four authentic Zagorje houses with 32 beds, a culinary experience at the Pri Kleti restaurant, and specialties from granny roza’s bread-oven, such as various types of homemade bread, Zagorje turkey, leg of lamb, geese and many more.
Here you can enjoy tasting red and white vine varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, rhine riesling, Welsh riesling or Sauvignon. Lovers of refreshing long walks in the fresh air will surely find enjoyable the numerous trails and walkways in the beautiful surroundings abounding in vineyards, orchards, forests and pastures and offering unforgettable views of the green Zagorje region.
