Zagorje is a wine growing region nestled in the cool, green hills of northern Croatia, just beyond the capital city of Zagreb, and Medvednica mountain.
The region is very famous for the cultivation of cool climate grapes. Approximately 90% of grapes are whites varieties such as graševina, pušiplje, kerner, gewürztraminer, müller-thurgau, yellow muscat, pinot blanc, pinot gris, riesling, sauvignon blanc, andsylvaner.
Red varieties include blaufrankisch, gamay, pinot noir, portugieser, cabernet franc, and cabernet sauvignon.
Enjoy the view – and try to taste these refreshing and food-friendly wines if you can! Cheers!
We offer tours in some of the excellent wine producers in Zagorje.
On the spacious hill, only 40 km from Zagreb, above the shrine of the Mother of God Bistrica, the Winery Micak was built based on the tradition and hospitality of three generations. Even since 1958. the supreme wine in Winery Micak was enjoyed in the dining room with its rich, authentic taste.
The Zdolc family maintains a centuries-old tradition of dealing with wine-growing. Flaunting the old tradition of wine production, with the use of modern technologies, high quality wines are obtained.
